Competition Types

Ranking Tournament

• The Calendar of the biggest Ukrainian table tennis competitions
• You can find the official ranking of Ukrainian players, past game scores, tournaments, and participants on the Ukrainian Table Tennis Federation website.
• You can calculate your UTTF ranking in a ranking calculator.
• Ranking calculation rules.

• "Tournament for players without ranking" is a tournament for those who are just taking their first steps in table tennis, or have played for a long time but cannot win against any ranked player.
• "Tournament 0-8" is primarily for beginners, who have either no ranking (zero) or a very small official Ukrainian ranking (up to 8.9 inclusive);
• "Tournament 0-15" is for beginners and amateurs;
• "Tournament 0-40" is for beginners, amateurs, and professionals, though honestly, beginners would not be interested in such tournaments, since they will lose all their matches quickly and won't learn to play better.
• "Tournament 0-100" is essentially a tournament without limits. Everyone can play, from novices to national team players.

• Tournaments in "Volia", "Orion", "Raketka" and "Himars" allow players to exceed the limit by a fraction. E.g., a player ranked 25.9 is allowed to take part in a "0-25" tournament. "Pokolinnia" doesn't allow any excess. "Gourmet" sometimes allows the excess, but not always.
• "Volia" sometimes changes the limit of a tournament on its eve.
• The attendance of tournaments in "Volia" is unpredictable: it often happens that just one or two players come to a tournament, and the tournament is canceled.

Non-Ranking Tournament

• Game results of non-ranking tournaments do not affect UTTF the rankings of players.
• Participation in a non-ranking tournament does not require the annual UTTF fee.
• Participation in a non-ranking tournament typically costs 30% less than participation in a ranking one.
• Kids non-ranking tournaments typically have age limits. Other non-ranking tournaments have no age limits.

Ladder Competition

• All tables are enumerated. The first table is the strongest, the second table is a bit weaker, and so on.
• All tables begin to play a set at the same time
• Players who finish their set wait for other players to finish theirs.
• Then all players trade places. A player who lost the set, goes to the table with the next higher number (that is, steps down to a lower rung of the ladder), thus playing the next set with a weaker opponent. A player who won the set, goes to the next table with a smaller number (steps up to a higher rung of the ladder), thus playing the next set against a stronger player. As soon as everyone is ready to play the next set, the next set begins simultaneously on all tables.
• Usually, such competition lasts a few hours. However, all players play as long as they want. Those who join later or return after a break, start to play from the lowest rung.
• If the number of players is odd, the player who loses misses the next set (waits in line).
• If there are only 3 players, then players alternate irrespective of who won or lost a set. Each player plays the first set with one opponent, the second set with another opponent, and then skips the third set. This order ensures equal distribution of play time.
• If there are not enough tables for all players (two or more players are in line), then two or more players, who lost their set at the weakest tables, go to the waiting line, and players who waited in line go to the tables.

• You can come alone; there is no need to have a partner.
• You can join, leave, or take a break at any time. This does not interrupt the play for others.
• You need not worry that your skill level might be low. After a few sets, strong players will play with strong players and weak players with weak ones.
• The workout is very intensive since breaks between games are minimal.
• Players are not as nervous as at a tournament. So, they overall swear less and behave better.

• To participate in a ladder competition in "Breiks" or Sports School #23, you need an invitation from the respective organizers, because they gather an even number of players of approximately the same skill level.
• Participating in a ladder competition in the first half of the day in "Volia" and "Orion" is very cheap, but players gather rarely. Join respective groups in Telegram and Viber to see who and when is going to play.
